CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Army West Point senior guard Kelsey Minato and freshman guard Alex Cantwell were named the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week following their performances during the ninth week (Jan. 4-Jan.10) of the 2015-16 season. The senior guard led the Black Knights in a pair wins over Lafayette and Loyola Maryland to improve to 3-1 in League play, while the rookie helped the Leopards capture their first win of the Patriot League slate at home over Boston University on Saturday. Minato earns her fourth weekly honor this season and 14th of her career, becoming the all-time leader in Patriot League history with the most career player of the week honors. Cantwell earns her first collegiate weekly honor and second for Lafayette this season.

LIDS TEAM SPORTS PATRIOT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
KELSEY MINATO, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., 5-8, G, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Minato continues to put up big numbers for the Black Knights, as she the led the team to a pair of wins over Lafayette and Loyola Maryland to improve to 3-1 in League play. The senior guard produced her second-straight 30-point game against the Leopards, scoring exactly 30 points. She was 12-of-15 from the floor, which included a 5-of-7 mark from beyond the arc, dished out a game-high seven assists, and also posted a season-high-tying seven rebounds. In the second League game of the week at home against Loyola, Minato netted a game-high 23 points on a 9-of-17 shooting effort. She finished the week with a stat line of .656 FG%, .556 3P%, 4.5 rpg, 4.5 apg, 2.5 spg, and 26.5 ppg.

LIDS TEAM SPORTS PATRIOT LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ALEX CANTWELL, LAFAYETTE Fr., 5-10, G, Glen Head, N.Y.
After leading the Leopards in scoring against Army West Point with 11 points, Cantwell set new season-highs in points and assists in Lafayette’s first League win over Boston University on Saturday. The rookie scored 17 points – the most netted by a Lafayette freshman this season -- and posted seven assists in the 71-56 win over the Terriers at home. She only committed one turnover in 74 minutes (out of 80 possible) on the week and also grabbed five rebounds in each contest. Cantwell finished the week shooting 11-of-16, going 6-for-9 from the line, and averaged 14 ppg, 5 rpg, and 4 apg.

HONORABLE MENTION

JACQUIE KLOTZ, BUCKNELL So., G, 6-0, West Windsor, N.J.
Klotz helped the Bison to two more wins and remain as the only undefeated team in the League with a 4-0 record. The sophomore played all 40 minutes in both of Bucknell’s games at American and at Holy Cross, in addition to recording her sixth double-double of the season with 24 points & 12 rebounds versus the Crusaders.

LEXI MARTINS, LEHIGH Jr., 6-0, F, Irvington, N.Y.
Martins led the Mountain Hawk’s scoring and rebounding efforts, posting a pair of double-doubles in the 1-1 week. The junior notched 17 points and 18 rebounds in Lehigh’s 66-48 win over Loyola Maryland and 17 points and 12 rebounds in the team’s 59-55 loss to American. The double-doubles were her 11th and 12th of the season and ties her for second most in the nation.

TAYLOR DUNHAM, NAVY So., 5-4, G, Fort Belvoir, Va.
Dunham led the Mids to their first win of the Patriot League season, a 67-56 defeat of Boston University, scoring 26 points against the Terriers which marked a new career high against a league opponent. The sophomore then chipped in eight points to help Navy to its second win of the League slate -- a 51-41 win over Colgate.

CECILY CARL, AMERICAN Fr., 6-3, F, Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Carl reached double-figures in points in back-to-back contests against Bucknell and at Lehigh, finishing with 12 and 10 points respectively. The freshman was 5-of-6 from the field in both contests and also helped the Eagles outrebound the Mountain Hawks with a career-high-tying nine boards. Carl was just one board shy of tallying her first career double-double.
